30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 7

Day 7:  Fav female character and why?

Luna Lovegood.  Just as with the males there are lots of great female characters but Luna really stands out for me.  She's misunderstood by the majority of Hogwarts and I can so identify with that.  I've always been the oddball growing up.  My cousins and I didn't really get along (I preferred the company of the adults anyway), I was always the weird one in school (Trekkie, liked X-Files, anime, informational stuff, science- science fairs were my thing for MANY years) and I can identify with her more than any other character in the series I think.  Yeah she seems like this ditzy blonde who is completely in the wrong house but really she's quite brilliant.  She just has some quirks and don't we all?  She's experienced so much and I love the moment when she & Harry are talking about the Thestrels (prolly spelled that wrong) and she explains why they can see them and no one else can.  She's amazing!  Plain & simple.
